Marty! It's all about Marty!

Look how GREAT Marty is doing!  So happy we didn't give up!

And Now - There's MORE!

 So time kept marching on -  and we had lots of events and growing things here in Bayville.

Also, but not pictured... tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, portulacia, marigolds, lettuce (which was planted, grown, eaten and removed already) and then one day I got frustrated and thought "If Marty is dead anyway -  I'm going to do something DRASTIC"... and I chopped off MOST of Marty.

Two days later-  HE'S GROWING!!  He was in there after all!

And now it's JULY!  So the story of Spin and Marty will keep moving forward (just maybe not as often as last year)

SO. They're BACK!!

On May 4, 2022,  we planted some pretty dead looking banana trees. I wasn't hopeful (but I really was, because that is ME lol)

So -  we watered and talked to them and on June 10, 2022, Spin started showing some signs of being alive!

 

And Marty (in the background) has NOTHING at this point.

This post has gotten LONG in size, so I will continue the story on a new blog post.

The Tale of Spin and Marty Comes to a Close

 So the tale of Spin and Marty comes to a close for 2021.  With any luck, they will both be back.  They entertained and amazed us this year, but did NOT produce any heirs to the Banana Kingdom... so let's all hope they survive winter in the garage and proliferate in 2022!

Again, it got kind of boring as the photos basically all looked the same after their initial "amazingness".  So I'll post a few that never got posted -  and then the finale pictures!

 So I said I was going to do this last week.  Well - things get away from you from time to time. So here's the comparison from the first "planted" picture back in May -  and today's (or nearly today's picture)

The angle is bad.  I don't know if I can figure out how to get a better angle.  I'm pathetic.  At any rate, you can see it grew leaves hahahahahah

May 8, 2021 - Spin

Also, take note.  That wormy-looking thing will be leaf #6 on Spin.  Oddly, Marty grew #6 first!  I bet by the end of the day, it will SHOOT UP and be huge!  If so, I'll take another photo.

This whole banana business is on the cool side!

And Then There Were FIVE

 So it seems a fifth leaf is about to open.  It did another one of those "not here today - gigantic tomorrow" things -  no leaf on Sunday -  BA BAM! 11-inch unfurling leaves on Monday!  It's a wonderment! Now it's Tuesday and Marty is winning in the unspinning of the leaf.

The MOST Amazing Thing

Below are the photos from 8:00 AM on July 4th and 10:30 AM on July 5th.  I was asked --  Are you SURE those pics were from yesterday???  --   So I checked the properties on the photos.  It's incredible what a banana tree can do!!

Can you see it????   The new leaves grew almost 8 inches in 26 hours!  How is that even possible????
